My condolences to Billys family and many friends. There will only have been a few like him to spread over many lifetimes. How lucky are we to have shared in his. Tir na Nog is Billys home now, and Billys Tir na Nog is where we can always remember him. It can never be the same, but I know his spirit will always make the Nog my second home. Margaret and girls my condolences, and prayers to you. |

I didn’t really know him personally, although I have been to TirNaNog a few times. But–I had an Irish husband, who I lost at the (his) age of 58. He was a handful, that I want to say. YET, no more loyal or decent man could I have asked for. He was not happy unless everyone around him, whether it be in a room, or a vehicle or a gathering place (usually our house) was caught up in laughter…and the music….. And Lord, he DID have the LUCK of the Irish…never discount that. |

Billy… you’ll always be missed by me. Many a night I’ve sat sipping a half n half to the tune o’ “Boston Rose” and the aroma of reb cigar. Although we may not always see eye to eye on the Union, I’ve always held you in very high regard and have always admired your fightin’ spirit and honesty. I’ve spoken to you once to say thank you for all the years of joy and musical experiences you’ve given me at Tir na nOg, but wished that I could’ve said “thank you” more. You don’t know me, but you’re existence has left its imprint upon me forever… and I thank you my friend. My prayers go out to you, your wife and kids. |

Billy I never knew you but through my daughters (Jamie Panfili) eyes. She would speak of you with the highest regards. She had often said when she got married she wanted you to sing. Thank you so very much for keeping her Irish Heritage strong. She loved you and because of the smiles and memories you gave to my daughter I too will always remember you. God Bless You. I am sure Heaven is sooo Happy to have you. My dad is Irish and I know he’s bugging you now to sing. Sing him a song or two and get him off your back. You and your family will be forever in my prayers. |

To the Dearest Briggs Family, What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us…. Our condolenses to your family. He became a part of my life when I was a little girl around 7, at Denny and Billy’s Pub on Olden Ave, what a lasting impression. Now, 28 years later, we had several facets in common: same date of birth and twins. |

girls, remember when you were born and i had stars named for you, well when you think of your da, think of this,,”,and when he shall die take him and cut him into little stars and he shall make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night…”. so you can look to the sky and know your dad is always there with your stars, giving that little twinkle he always gave, and you will always feel safe and loved |

I wouldn’t know where to begin to praise my former singing partner and long-time friend Bill Briggs. He will be sorely missed, both in the pub and here in our shared neighborhood. I am sure he will have little trouble getting into heaven, since he always had the heart of a child. One possible snafu follows: St. Peter: “What’s that you have there, Mr. Briggs?” Billy” “This. This? Oh, that’s my banjo.” St. Peter” “I’m sorry, but you’ll need to tune that thing before I can let you pass through.” Not going anywhere for a while??? To the Briggs family, I met Billy only once and that was when he was in the backroom of my parents restaurant with the late State Senator Walter Kavanaugh as he was singing one of his Irish tunes for him and those he was with. I went in and said who was singing and they all pointed at Billy and said he was, and my reply to him and will always be ” Very Good. ” May God Bless Him and welcome him into His Heavenly Kingdom. May God Bless You All. Pete Lieggi |
